Darroch (ドグ, Dogu) is a dwarven blacksmith who is devoted to his clients and headstrong in nature. He seems to be popular with the older ladies in town, who have known him since he was inexperienced in smithing.

• Darroch's Japanese name ドグ (Dogu) was localized to "Darroch" as opposed to "Doug" to avoid confusion with the character Doug from Rune Factory 4/Rune Factory 4 Special, who can visit Rigbarth if you have Rune Factory 4 Special save data on your switch.
• Each Japanese voice actor has provided commentary on their characters and on Rune Factory 5 as a whole. The following is the English translation of Hirofumi Nojima's commentary:

  Hey there. This is Hirofumi Nojima, the voice of Darroch. We wrapped up recording just now. So let's talk about Darroch for a bit. I think this is the first time I've ever played someone like Darroch. A big, buff, burly dude. But I've actually always wanted to try voicing a character like him. So I really had a blast recording my lines. They sent the character materials to my house, and I remember flipping through them. The packet included all sorts of stuff. The first time I read through it, I actually ended up passing Darroch over entirely! I just brushed him off like, "Oh, so the game has a character like this? Cool." I felt pretty confused after that because I hadn't figured out which character was mine. It was quite a shock to realize that I was supposed to play him. As a voice actor, there's nothing better than landing a role that you've always wanted to play. A real-life actor probably couldn't pull off this sort of thing without using CGI or something... But a voice actor can do it just by manipulating their voice. I was reminded of just how cool that is. Darroch is the kind of character that seems like this scary hulk of a man on the surface...but on the inside he's actually a big softie, especially toward the town's older ladies. While recording his lines, I kept in mind that he's a man of many endearing traits. Now, let's discuss Rune Factory itself. You probably already know that it's a farming sim that takes place in a fantasy world full of monsters. I think I'd have a great time if I ended up in a world like that. I'm a big fan of living in the middle of nature, like out in the country or up in the mountains. I also love animals, so while fighting monsters is fine by me...I'd want to keep some of my own as well! I'm pretty sure I'd be fine living someplace where I could do that. I'd take a lot of pride in mastering the sorts of skills you use in the game, too. On that subject... I had a lot of fun jumping into the world of Rune Factory 5 as Darroch. I almost forgot to mention it, but I'm also a big fan of craftsmen like him. As long as we're talking about my crazy hobbies... I should add that I love polishing metal, too. I guess you can say that a voice actor's work somewhat resembles that of a craftsman. I love metalworking so much... In fact, I probably would've tried to pursue a career in that if I weren't a voice actor. That's what made the character so much fun for me to play.
