Animals (Harvest Moon 64)

Description

You can buy the following animals in Harvest Moon: 64 - Cows, Sheep and Chickens.

Cows

• Your cow starts off as a calf. It takes 1 full season to grow to adult size. Until it's an adult, it cannot be milked.
• You can buy the milker from Rick's Tool Shop.
• In order to increase affection, you must brush and use the milker on your cow every day.
• If cows get sick, buy Animal Medicine from Green Ranch.
• If you want another calf, you can get your cow pregnant with the Miracle Potion from Green Ranch. Cows are pregnant for 21 days until they give birth. During this time they will give lower quality milk.
• Cows have their own festival on Fall 4th. If your cow wins, it will produce Gold Milk.
• You can have a total of 8 cows and/or sheep combined.
• Cows and sheep can graze outside in grass fields.

Chickens

• Chickens only have one item they produce: eggs, and they always sell for the same price.
• You have to buy Chicken Feed from Green Ranch. Chickens can't eat the fodder you produce on your farm out of your grass fields.
• It takes 4 days to hatch into a chick from an egg. It takes 7 days to become a chicken.
• If you leave your chicken out in a Typhoon, it will blow away. If it's left outside, there's a chance it will be killed by a wild animal.
• If chickens get sick, feed them. They don't need the Animal Medicine. It takes 1-2 days for them to produce eggs again.

Sheep

• Your sheep starts off as a lamb. It takes 1 full season to grow to adult size. Until it's an adult, it cannot be sheared.
• You can buy the clippers from Rick's Tool Shop.
• In order to increase affection, you must brush and use the clippers to shear your sheep every 7 days.
• If your sheep get sick, buy Animal Medicine from Green Ranch.
• You can have a total of 8 cows and/or sheep combined.
• You cannot sell a sheep to Green Ranch unless it has its wool at the time of the sale.
• Cows and sheep can graze outside in grass fields.

Insects and Wild Animals

You can't sell, keep, or do anything with these creatures besides pick them up and show people them.

	Horned beetle	Horned beetle. Very rare. But can't sell.
	Stag beetle	Stag beetle. Extremely rare. But can't sell.
	Grasshopper	Grasshopper. An insect seen in the bushes.
	Cicada	Cicada. An insect that chirps during Summer.
	Butterfly	Butterfly. Flies around looking for flower nectar from Spring through Summer.
	Ladybug	Ladybug. Has 7 black spots on a red body.
	Red dragonfly	Red dragonfly. An insect that gives poetic charm to Fall.
	Cricket	Bell-ring cricket. Sings with a very pretty voice.
	Rabbit	Rabbit. Has long ears and moves very quickly.
	Fox	Fox. Has a big, bushy tail.
	Cat	Cat. It's always sleeping.
	Squirrel	Squirrel. Moves very quickly.
	Monkey	Monkey. Moves very quickly. Chatters.

Insects and Wild Animals

You can't sell, keep, or pick up these creatures - they just move around the area or appear in cut-scenes.

Taro	Taro. A dog of the Potion Shop. Its name is Taro, but it's a female dog.
Jiro	Jiro. A puppy born at the Potion Shop.
