Rune Factory (ルーンファクトリー , Rūn Fakutorī), officially titled Rune Factory: A Fantasy Harvest Moon (ルーンファクトリー -新牧場物語-), is the first installment in the fantasy farming series for Nintendo DS. Rune Factory originally began as a spin-off of the Harvest Moon series. Combining the main elements of Harvest Moon (farming, raising animals and marriage) and traditional RPG elements (sword fighting, leveling up), a new game was born.

Story

A young man, Raguna, stumbles upon the farm of a young woman named Mist. Raguna, near state of collapsing, is saved by the strange Mist. It's discovered that Raguna has no memory and is suffering from amnesia. After deciding his name, Mist offers him her abandoned farm north of her home, hoping that while tilling the fields, he'll regain his memory. Raguna always felt more comfortable with a sword in hand though. As Raguna battles through the various caves and ruins of Kardia that are suddenly overrun with monsters, he continues to unlock his hidden past and save the village.
