Walkthrough (Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life)
Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life is divided into 6 chapters, ranging from one to three years (shortened to one year in the special edition) each. As each chapter progresses, the excavation site grows, the townsfolk age and various changes occur around Forget-Me-Not Valley.
Chapter 1: The Beginning
- Length: 1 year
The player must woo and successfully propose to one of the eligible bachelorettes while maintaining and working to improve the farm. If the player fails to propose, a cut scene occurs where he is offered the choice of marrying the bachelorette with the most hearts. If the player declines, the game ends. The marriage ceremony takes place at the very end of this chapter.
Chapter 2: Happy Birthday
- Length: 2 years
The player now lives with his wife and their son, who appears to be about two years old. Toys can be purchased from Van and, throughout only this chapter, the player can take his son around town. Nina has passed away and Galen has moved to a small house by Vesta's farm. Dr. Hardy has turned Galen's old house into a medical clinic. Grant and his family moved into a newly built house. This is the first chapter in which the player can receive a cat, ducks and a goat.
If the player neglects his family or his farm, the game will end at the end of this chapter.
Chapter 3: Happy Harvesting
- Length: 3 years
This chapter occurs several years after the end of Happy Birthday. The player's son is now a child with his own room and many of the villagers have aged, too (most notably are Hugh and Lumina, who are now a teenager and an adult, respectively).
Chapter 4: Happy Farm-Life
- Length: 2 years
Several years have passed and the player's son is now a teenager. The house has been expanded once again, giving the player and his wife their own bedroom.
Chapter 5: The Journeying Chapter
- Length: 1 year
The player's child has reached adulthood and will marry either Kate or Lumina.
Chapter 6: The Twilight Chapter
This chapter is the last chapter in the game. The player's son has finally decided what career he will pursue in life. Also, almost everyone in Forget-Me-Not-Valley has aged as well. At the end of the chapter, the player passes away.
