In the beginning of the game, the kind people of the town will give you all the tools you need to get to work. Here, it'll be explained how to use them and how to upgrade them.

  • Watering Can: You're most valuable tool. It can only water one square of water, and you need to regularly go to the river or other source of water to fill it back up. Not too long into the game, Bill will put up the Sprinkler for sale, which will water a 3x3 area around you. Pretty handy, and doesn't run out of water somehow.
  • Hoe: Another very valuable tool. It will till one square of soil with a mighty swing, and leave it ready for seeds to be planted. After using it for a while however, it'll break... return it to Bill, and he'll repair it for you in a newer, shinier, form. He may also do this for you early as a birthday present.
  • Sickle: Vital for raising livestock, as you need it to cut all the grass to make fodder. Before upgrading it, of course, only cuts one square. To get the upgrade, you either get it as a present from Bill for your birthday, or you do the "Whetstone" event.
  • Hammer: It's HAMMER TIME. Uh... anyway. You can use this to bash up small rocks, or the larger rocks for 6 hits. After upgrading your home, Ken will give you the upgraded hammer to break up those boulders in one mighty swing!
  • Axe: Let me AXE you something. How far would you get without this thing? Not very. You have to use it to chop up all that lumber in the mountains to upgrade your house and build cool stuff. It takes six swings to break up a stump. To get the upgrade, you have to be friends with Daisy, who could give it to you one day.
