Friendship, Dating & Marriage (Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town)
In Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town, there are 30+ brand new characters for you to befriend! As you get to know the residents, you can see their heart event episodes and learn even more about their lives. Detailed info on each of the townsfolk can be found on their pages. Additionally, there are 10 marriage candidates among the townsfolk of Olive Town whom you can date, marry, and even start a family with! Talk to these characters and experience their events to get to know them and decide who you want to settle down with in Olive Town.
In this game, you can date and marry any marriage candidate, regardless of gender.
If you purchase the Expansion Pass, you get access to 12 additional characters from previous games in the series: 6 returning townsfolk and 6 returning marriage candidates. Details on the Expansion Pass can be found here.
Friendship
Each resident of Olive Town has a heart level representing your friendship with them. You can check a person's heart level by going to the Notebook Menu tab with the heart icon. Check this menu to keep track of your friendship with the townsfolk!
Version update 1.0.5 added a heart icon next to the dialogue box when speaking to townsfolk as another indicator of your friendship level.
Friendship Points (FP)
Each heart level corresponds to a certain number of Friendship Points (FP), as indicated in the chart below.

◆ = The amount of FP gained by this action is dependent on the Player's Communication Skill. It starts at a base value of 0 and increases as the Communication Skill level increases.
Heart Event Episodes
Marriage candidates have 10 heart event episodes before marriage, one occurring at each heart level. Non-marriage candidates have 4 heart event episodes, occurring at heart levels 1, 4, 7, and 10.

Dating
Dating Requirements
Do any of the marriage candidates catch your eye? Feel a strong connection? To confess to a marriage candidate and begin dating, you must hand them a Confession Pendant. You can purchase a Confession Pendant from the Olive General Store for 10000G. You may confess to a marriage candidate and begin dating them so long as you you meet the following criteria:
- You have 6 ♥ or higher with them
- You have seen their Heart Event Episodes 1 - 5
- You are not currently married to anyone else
- It is not a typhoon, blizzard, or a festival day
Note: You may confess to more than one candidate.
Confessing to a marriage candidate will earn you 200 Town Development points.
Festivals While Dating
When you are dating someone, you will be able to participate in the four annual dating festivals with them (The Egg Hunt, The Fireworks Display, the Spirit Festival, and The Snowshine Celebration). To participate with your significant other, find them at the festival and speak to them. Alternatively, you may still choose to participate alone by speaking directly with the festival runner. If you are dating more than one person, you may pick only one of the people you are dating to spend the festival with.
Participating in a festival with your significant other will increase their friendship by 1 ♥.
Note: If you are dating any of the DLC marriage candidates (Felicia, Neil, Iris, Raeger, Lisette, Ludus), you cannot invite them with you to participate in these festivals.
Marriage
Marriage Requirements
Ready to settle down with that special someone? To propose to your significant other, you must hand them a Blue Feather, which can be purchased from the Olive General Store for 20000G. You may propose so long as you meet the following criteria:
- You have 10 ♥ with them
- You have seen their Heart Event Episodes 1 - 9
- You have upgraded your house to a Log Cabin or better
- You are not currently married to anyone else
- It is not a typhoon, blizzard, or a festival day
Marrying someone will earn you 500 Town Development points. If you divorce and remarry the same person, you will not earn those 500 points again.
The Wedding
The day after you propose, Victor will come to your house to congratulate you and to decide when your wedding will be. He will offer you three potential wedding dates within the following week for you to choose from. You will then be given the opportunity to choose from 4 unique wedding outfits for your special day.
After the wedding, your spouse will live with you at your house, and their daily schedule will permanently change. Additionally, their maximum heart level will increase to 15 ♥.
Married Life Episodes
There are 4 Married Life Episodes. The requirements to trigger these episodes are summarized below:

Festivals While Married
When you are married to someone, you will be able to participate in the four annual dating festivals with them (The Egg Hunt, The Fireworks Display, the Spirit Festival, and The Snowshine Celebration). The married festival cutscenes are different than the dating festival cutscenes!

Starting A Family
In addition to the Married Life events, there is also a series of Family Life events that occur post-marriage that involve you and your spouse starting a family together!
Child Count
There is an in-game value called the Child Count, which determines when the Family Life Episodes 1 and 2 take place. The Child Count is determined as follows:
- Each day after your wedding, the Child Count will increase by +1.
- If you go to bed before 11:59PM (even if it's by passing out), the Child Count will increase by an additional +1.
After Family Life Episode 2, all Family Life episodes are triggered based on the number of days that have passed. The Child Count is no longer relevant.
Family Life Episodes
There are 6 Family Life Episodes. The requirements to trigger these episodes are summarized below:

Special Prayer (Divorce)
Should you decide that you no longer want to be married to someone, you can head to the Shrine to receive a Special Prayer. which will reset your relationship status, returning things to how they were before you confessed to your partner. If you have a child, they will disappear as well. When you receive the Special Prayer, your day will immediately come to an end.
