いつみても、この絵はいいですね…。 あら、<主人公>さん。こんばんは。 わたくしが何をしてたかですって？絵をみていたのです。 あなたはジェフという画家をご存知ですか？ そうですか…。いいでしょう。まぁ、ずいぶんと昔に亡くなった人ですから、しょうがありませんね。では、話してあげましょう。ジェフという人はミネラルタウン出身の人で、雑貨屋の主人だったの。ジェフは気が弱くて、いつも商品をツケで買われていったそうですよ。しかも、昔からブドウ園の主人にいじめられていたそうですわ。あと、都合が悪くなると胃が痛くなったそうですよ。ダメな人ですねぇ…。でも、そんなジェフにも一つだけ特技があったんです。それは、絵を描くこと。たまたま、コンクールに書いた絵を送ったら入選しちゃって、時の人になったらしいです。で、ジェフの雑貨屋には絵を買いに来る行商人が、たくさん来たらしいですが、絶対売らなかったそうなのよ。なんでも、「ボクが心にとめたものをありのまま描いているんだ。お金をもらったら心を売っているような気がして。」と言って断ったそうです。 それを聞いて感動したわたくしの先祖が絵を描いてくれと頼みに頼んで描いてもらったものが、この部屋にある絵なのです。 どうです？
"As always, this picture looks so beautiful... Oh, <Player>. Good day. What was I doing? I was just admiring this painting. Have you ever heard of a painter by the name of Jeff? I see... That's quite alright. Well, he died a long time ago, so it can't be helped. Hm, let me tell you his story. Jeff was a man from Mineral Town who owned a general store. He was frail, and was always left paying others' tabs. Furthermore, he was bullied by the town's vineyard owner for a long time. Whenever something stressed him out, he'd get a stomachache. Really, he was a poor and pathetic man... However, Jeff had one talent. He was an incredible artist. Artworks he submitted for a contest were selected as the winners, and he became quite famous. I heard there were many dealers who came to Jeff's store, all wanting to buy his works. But, he never sold any. As I understand it, he refused each offer, saying only 'I create my paintings using my heart's raw feelings. If I got paid for it, it would be just like selling my heart.' My ancestor was moved hearing this, and begged him to paint her a picture ― the very picture you see here now. What do you think?"
The English localization was completely rewritten to imply that past characters are still alive and are the same persons, and this is clearly not the case.
