Description

"Hullo, everyone! I'm Woofio and I'll be your judge, woof. I'm doggone happy to be here." - Woofio's in-game character introduction.

Woofio is a whimsical character beloved by children of any age. He's popular with animals, and has made a name for himself as a world-famous Animal Trainer. Woofio's costume includes black overalls with a bright blue pouch; something that Woofio himself said can hold a great number of things, although he'll never let you peek inside. The placard which Woofio holds up from time to time is stored in that same pouch. Woofio also wears a hat that is shaped like a frisbee with a tennis ball attached. It's not to be mistaken for an actual frisbee!

The man in the dogsuit is surrounded by an air of mystery, and other than children and the people he works with in the contest circuit, not many people interact with him. Woofio's words are coated in an almost saccharine-sweet layer of optimism, but what really lies beneath that paw-sitive exterior?

Woofio will move into Lulukoko Village after completing your first Animal Festival (regardless of the outcome). The first opportunity for him to move in is after the (Y1) Summer 13 festival, on Summer 14 or later.

Friend Event: Woofio's Pawsitively Wonderful Life

• New Neighbors DLC is needed
• Woofio's FP: 10000+ (1 Heart+/Purple Flower)
• Weather: Sunny (Everywhere)
• Any Weekday (No other events must trigger that day, No festivals)
• Time: 6:00 - 20:00
• How to trigger: Walk from South Lulukoko into North Lulukoko
• About: You spot Woofio being tailed by some birds in Lulukoko and decide to tag along with them. After following them to the ruins, Woofio notices you and explains that he's just about to begin his training to become a better Animal Trainer. You're invited to join in! Taking Woofio on his offer, you follow him along to meet up with many different animal species around Lulukoko. It seems like you're pretending to be the animals, rather than do anything specific with them. A long afternoon of this horsing around has you dog-tired, but Woofio announces there's just one more thing to do before you're ready to get your temporary Animal Trainer license! You just have to...assume the form of a shellfish. Underwater. Woofio goes first to show you an example, but you're quick to back out on this one. Woofio understands the situation; just because he's able to do this, doesn't mean everyone else is able to. He's able to do things normal humans can't, after all. He shouldn't have expected so much of you. Woofio apologizes and then admits today was fun. Hang out with him again soon, if you get the chance.

	Woofio	All right, now we're going to start doing the training needed to get a temporary animal trainer license.
	Woofio	Oh, don't worry. It's not too ruff.
	Woofio	Now, next, we're going to assume the form of the shellfish.
	Woofio	Let me show you how it's done. See, you pose just like so...
	Woofio	And then you just sink down into the ocean.
	Woofio	If you can't do this properly, you'll never be able to become a proper animal trainer.
	Woofio	Don't worry. I'm sure you can do it! You're a farmer after all. You have plenty of experience with animals.
	Woofio	Now come on, <Player>! Unleash your potential and dive into the ocean!
	Woofio	What's wrong, <Player>? Your face is very pale.
	Woofio	Oh yeah... It totally slipped my mind.
	Woofio	Just because I can do it, doesn't automatically mean you can.
	Woofio	A normal human can't survive deep in the ocean. I didn't mean to ask the impossible of you.
	Woofio	I guess for all my ability with animals, it looks like what I need to practice is communicating with other people.
	Woofio	Sorry for putting you through all that, <Player>.
	Woofio	That said, I did have fun today. I hope we can train together again soon.

(Light Blue) Love Event: Woofio Led Astray

• How to trigger: Walk from the Crossroads to South Lulukoko
• About: You walk into Lulukoko's southern district only to come across a frantic Schalk and Alma who have discovered a cat which has strayed too far from home. The cat doesn't seem to be very responsive to their efforts to help the small creature. The two children turn to you for help in searching for the cat's home and family. After a fruitless effort, Woofio stops by for a hello, but notices that something isn't quite right. Rest assured! Animal Trainer Woofio is now on the case! Woofio gives the cat a few sniffs with his nose and deduces that the cat is not a stray, but rather someone's family pet. You all set off to reunite the cat with a young boy from Tsuyukusa. Thank goodness it's safe! It's incredible to everyone how Woofio was able to figure all of that out from the cat's scent. It's all in a day's work for an Animal Trainer. Woofio sends the children home before it gets too late, and spends a little time to chat with you. He ends up admitting that he knows what it feels like not being able to return home. When you show your concern, Woofio gets flustered and shares a little more information about himself with you. Woofio doesn't want you worrying, though! All animals are his friends and family now. He thanks you for being kind to him and takes his leave. A little later, he reflects on your kindness and quickly stomps out any ideas that you could be anything other than a normal person. He reassures himself that keeping his distance is the way to go, going forward.

The four of you bring the cat to the Crossroads. The cat sees and is reunited with its owner...

	Woofio	Aw, shucks. I didn't do anything special. I just made sure he got back to where he belonged.

Woofio leaves in a more than obvious attempt to deflect the conversation away from him any further. He stops to think to think to himself on the way back.
	Woofio	...
	Woofio	...When was the last time someone rubbed my head like that?
	Woofio	No...No no no. What am I thinking...?
	Woofio	They're just...normal.
	Woofio	I guess I should be careful not to get too invested going forward.
	Woofio	...It'll be okay. I've been down this road before.

(Dark Blue) Love Event: A Suit-able Fellow

• How to trigger: Walk from South Lulukoko into North Lulukoko
• About: While paying a visit to Lulukoko's ruins, you notice Woofio trying to find a way inside from up high. Woofio miscalculates a step and tumbles to the ground, but somehow he's left unharmed! Clearly worried for your friend, you rush over to help him up. Uh oh, Woofio wasn't quite expecting to see you! You didn't see what happened, did you? He tries to play it cool, and suggests that you might have dreamed up what you saw. You won't be letting him brush you off this time, however, and he can tell that anything he might say to you now will be seen through completely. Very well, you two will have to go talk in private. The both of you make way to a secluded section of the village and sit down for what will be a lengthy and serious conversation. Woofio's not one for these kinds of talks, but begins by saying that everything you know of him up to now has been a lie that he's led you to believe for the sake of convenience. While he is an Animal Trainer, he came to the ruins to investigate the spirits of Lulukoko. He asks what you see when you look at him. At this time, Woofio shares his greatest secret with you. After revealing it to you, he mentions that you're the first he's ever told. As Woofio tries to leave, you feel like you might not see him again. You're compelled to chase after him. Woofio's feelings about you are so complex; in the end, he just wants you to be happy. He tries to warn you that nothing good comes from being close to him. People shun him, and they'll shun you as well. You really shouldn't feel anything for him at all. You're getting yourself into something far beyond your means... He tries and tries to push you away, and all the more it's clear how much this is painful for him. He has been "The Great Woofio" for so long, but now he feels like his persona is crumbling away. You give him a pained and concerned glance, and he asks you not to look at him that way. He won't leave without warning, since he still has to find out information on Lulukoko's spirits. The two of you part ways after this, and on your way home you're confronted by Witchie. She had eavesdropped on the whole conversation! It turns out that Woofio may be under a Witch's curse. Breaking the curse is no easy feat, and Witchie can't make any promises about reversing the process. Still, she tells you she will give it her best shot - with some time, of course.

The two of you head to a secluded part of Lulukoko.
	Woofio	I don't think anyone will see us here.
	Woofio	Let's sit over there... This'll probably take a while to explain.
	Woofio	Well...where to begin?
	Woofio	Remember before when I told you I came here to hone my skills as an animal trainer?
	Woofio	...That was a lie. Yup. Just a convenient fabrication.
	Woofio	The truth is, I came to this village to investigate it.
	Woofio	Or to put a finer point on it, to investigate the legend of this village's spirit.
	Woofio	Hey, <Player>?
	Woofio	What do I look like to you?
	Woofio	...I'm betting I look like a person wearing a goofy dog costume, right?
	Woofio	I figured as much. That's how I've always seen myself, too.
	Woofio	But...that's not the case.
	Woofio	<Player>, this is probably going to sound crazy to you, but...
	Woofio	...there's nobody inside this suit. The suit itself is my body.
	Woofio	Once, when I was really young, I met the great spirit in the forest.
	Woofio	The great spirit told me that it'd been a long time since they'd met a human who could see them, so they wanted to play.
	Woofio	I spent days playing with the great spirit.
	Woofio	Thinking back on it, it was probably much longer than just a few days.
	Woofio	I spent my time talking to the forest animals, eating snacks in a strange room...
	Woofio	And the great spirit would make me laugh and even surprise me with its wondrous magical powers.
	Woofio	But eventually, I realized I had to go home, and so I left the room where I'd been staying.
	Woofio	The great spirit tried to get me to stop, but I ignored it and just ran out of the forest as fast as my legs could carry me.
	Woofio	But just as I was about to reach home, I realized something wasn't right.
	Woofio	I'd been running for so long, but...I wasn't out of breath.
	Woofio	It was then that I saw my reflection in the water. I didn't recognize the dog face looking back at me.
	Woofio	It was then that I finally realized what had happened to me.
	Woofio	In a panic, I ran back into the forest looking for the mysterious room, but...it had completely vanished.
	Woofio	My body had been transformed into a dog costume, and I could still understand what all the animals were saying.
	Woofio	Ever since then, I haven't been able to go back home. I've lived deep in the forest with the animals.
	Woofio	...
	Woofio	I never get hungry, either. I don't even feel pain.
	Woofio	That's why...even though I fell from so high up, I can just walk away without so much as a scratch.
	Woofio	I've kept it a secret from everyone that there's nothing inside of me.
	Woofio	...This is the first time I've ever opened up to anyone.
	Woofio	...
	Woofio	Well...guess I'll be going.
	Woofio	See you later, <Player>...Take care.

The two of you part ways, and you head back to the Crossroads on the way to your farm.

	Witchie	To think that dog costume used to be a normal ol' human...
	Witchie	I figured maybe it was some kind of homunculus created by another witch or something.
	Witchie	I-It's not like I was eavesdropping or anything.
	Witchie	You two were being so loud right in front of my house that I originally came out to tell you to shut up.
	Witchie	But yeah, that guy...
	Witchie	I'm betting the spirit he was talking about is definitely a witch. ...Probably.
	Witchie	I can sense a witch's magic energy wafting off him, y'know.
	Witchie	That's why I originally thought he was some sort of magical creature.
	Witchie	If his condition was the result of some witch's magic, there might be a way to reverse the effects...
	Witchie	D-Don't rush me.
	Witchie	I'm just a witch in training. There's no guarantee that I'll be able to dispel a hex cast by another witch...
	Witchie	Okay, okay! Don't look at me with those big, quivering eyes.
	Witchie	...Just give me some time, okay? Genius doesn't happen all at once, except when it does.

(Light Green) Love Event: Magic Makes the Man

Note: This is Woofio's final love event. If you do not propose to Woofio in this event, you will never be able to marry him at a later time. Please consider this carefully going forward.

• Time: 18:00 - 22:00
• How to trigger: Walk from the Crossroads to your farm
• About: As you're returning home from a long day's work, Witchie calls out to stop you. She'd looked into a reversal for Woofio's curse, but as she said before, no promises can be made as to whether this plan will work. She's brought Inari and Dessie on board to help, and now she needs you to go bring Woofio to the ruins. Eager to do whatever you can, you rush off and locate him. Woofio's understandably confused at the sudden request, but holds still as asked while Inari, Dessie, and Witchie perform their magic. He notices the bright light which envelops him, and you ask him if he's human yet. Unfortunately, the answer is no. He's been under a curse for so long that breaking it is beyond any of the little deities' means. It's news that no one, especially you, wanted to hear and so you start to cry in front of Woofio. Woofio understands the situation a bit better now. You were trying to break his curse, weren't you? Woofio's grateful that you've been so kind and thoughtful towards him. It's time for him to go, though; he can't bear to keep seeing you in pain. He laments that if it were up to him he'd hold you in his arms, but... he's not a human so he could never do so. Woofio begins walking down the path away from the ruins, and once again you find yourself chasing after him. Your clumsiness gets the better of you, making you trip and crash into him. The both of you tumble to the end of the stairs where something strange happens! A bunch of mysterious sparkling lights flow into Woofio's hunched over body. After some time, Woofio gets up, but not without an exclamation of pain. Pain? Woofio's experiencing pain? He's also got a heart beat, and body heat! Can this be real!? The two of you are ecstatic and give each other a tight embrace. The little deities have no idea what just happened, but Dessie thinks that you were able to break Woofio's curse because you're a special human. No one else really considered that factor. The public display of affection is a bit much for Witchie, who suggests that you two head somewhere more private so you can spend time together. You quickly agree, and both of you find yourselves back in the same secluded area as the Dark Blue love event. Woofio still can't believe he's human now, and is getting used to everything that comes with being one. It's all thanks to you for believing in him and being by his side that this was able to happen. If there's anything he could do in return he will gladly do it, no questions asked. Now's your chance...Do you act on your feelings? Or has he just been a friend all along?

	Witchie	Well, it's sorta up in the air whether we'll be able to do anything to fix him, but...
	Witchie	In the meantime, I asked Dessie and Inari to help out.
	Witchie	What I need YOU to do is grab Mr. Woof or whatever his name is and bring him to the ancient ruins. Got it?
You run off to do as Witchie commands of you.
	Witchie	...At this point, we've just gotta give it our all and hope for the best.
The scene cuts to the ruins, where you've brought Woofio to stand in front of the altar.
	Woofio	You said you needed something from me, <Player>? What can I do for you?
	Woofio	Hold still? Well, I don't really get what's going on, but okay.
You look to the left corner of the ruins as the three deities poke their heads out from behind bird statuettes.
	Witchie	All righty! Let's do this exactly like we discussed!
	Dessie	O-Okay...!
Everyday	Inari	Understood!
	Witchie	Fwwaaah!
The three of them cast a spell together, and a warm yellow light wraps shines around Woofio.
	Woofio	That light just now...
	Woofio	You want to know if I'm human again?
	Woofio	No... Unfortunately, I'm still just a costume, woof.
	Witchie	Dang it. It was super ineffective.
	Witchie	It's probably because too much time has passed since the original spell was cast.
	Witchie	If you leave a tangled thread alone for too long, it just gets more difficult to undo the mess...
	Witchie	If we could have my aunt take a look at him, we might be able to do something about this, but...
	Witchie	...I have no idea where she is right now. And there's no guarantee that I'll find her while Mr. Woof is still alive...
Sad	Inari	I've heard there's no real rhyme or reason to how a witch's spells work, making them extremely hard to dispel.
Sad	Inari	...I'm most sorry I could be of no help.
	Dessie	Waah. I'm so, so sorry...
It seems the worst-case scenario has occurred - none of them were able to help after all. Upset by this news, you start to cry...
	Woofio	Wait...Could it be that you tried to undo the spell cast on me?
	Woofio	...I see.
	Woofio	Thank you, <Player>. I'm really, truly grateful.
	Woofio	But it looks like...it's about time I leave this place.
	Woofio	I can't bear to see you keep making that face all the time.
	Woofio	Goodbye, <Player>. Thank you for being a ray of kindness to brighten my life.
	Woofio	If it were up to me, I'd hold you in my arms to express my gratitude, but...
	Woofio	...these arms will never be real enough to hug you.
Woofio is leaving...! For real this time! You can't let that happen, so you quickly chase after him. You crash into Woofio and both of you tumble down the stairs...
At the end of the stairs, something wondrous...something magical is happening! A mysterious light is flowing into Woofio! You step back to watch what happens next.
	Woofio	O-Ow, ouch...
	Woofio	...It hurts.
	Woofio	No, no. I don't mean it hurts to leave.
	Woofio	...I mean I'm experiencing physical discomfort.
	Woofio	And it's...hard to breathe.
	Woofio	...No way. Am I dreaming?
	Woofio	I can feel my heart racing.
	Woofio	My...heart is beating.
