Description

"Hullo, everyone! I'm Woofio and I'll be your judge, woof. I'm doggone happy to be here." - Woofio's in-game character introduction.

Woofio is a whimsical character beloved by children of any age. He's popular with animals, and has made a name for himself as a world-famous Animal Trainer. Woofio's costume includes black overalls with a bright blue pouch; something that Woofio himself said can hold a great number of things, although he'll never let you peek inside. The placard which Woofio holds up from time to time is stored in that same pouch. Woofio also wears a hat that is shaped like a frisbee with a tennis ball attached. It's not to be mistaken for an actual frisbee!

The man in the dogsuit is surrounded by an air of mystery, and other than children and the people he works with in the contest circuit, not many people interact with him. Woofio's words are coated in an almost saccharine-sweet layer of optimism, but what really lies beneath that paw-sitive exterior?

Woofio will move into Lulukoko Village after completing your first Animal Festival (regardless of the outcome). The first opportunity for him to move in is after the (Y1) Summer 13 festival, on Summer 14 or later.

Events and Requirements

Friend Event: Woofio's Pawsitively Wonderful Life

  • New Neighbors DLC is needed
  • Woofio's FP: 10000+ (1 Heart+/Purple Flower)
  • Weather: Sunny (Everywhere)
  • Any Weekday (No other events must trigger that day, No festivals)
  • Time: 6:00 - 20:00
  • How to trigger: Walk from South Lulukoko into North Lulukoko
  • About: You spot Woofio being tailed by some birds in Lulukoko and decide to tag along with them. After following them to the ruins, Woofio notices you and explains that he's just about to begin his training to become a better Animal Trainer. You're invited to join in! Taking Woofio on his offer, you follow him along to meet up with many different animal species around Lulukoko. It seems like you're pretending to be the animals, rather than do anything specific with them. A long afternoon of this horsing around has you dog-tired, but Woofio announces there's just one more thing to do before you're ready to get your temporary Animal Trainer license! You just have to...assume the form of a shellfish. Underwater. Woofio goes first to show you an example, but you're quick to back out on this one. Woofio understands the situation; just because he's able to do this, doesn't mean everyone else is able to. He's able to do things normal humans can't, after all. He shouldn't have expected so much of you. Woofio apologizes and then admits today was fun. Hang out with him again soon, if you get the chance.

Everyday Woofio Hey, <Player>. How's life treating you?
Everyday Woofio I was about to start my training to become an even better animal trainer.
Everyday Woofio I'd just begun some vocal warmups to practice my commands!
Happy Woofio Oh, I know! How about you join me in my training? I promise it won't be too ruff.
Everyday Woofio Wooferful. That's what I like to hear.
Everyday Woofio Now, without further awoo, let's get started!
Everyday Woofio In order to become a master trainer, one must first learn how to understand animals' feelings.
Everyday Woofio I call this tenet of my philosophy "Be one with the animal".
Everyday Woofio Anyhow, I'm going to resume from where I left off. Here I go.
Everyday Woofio How do I do it? It's quite simpaw-l, really. Let this old dog show you a new trick!
Everyday Woofio We're going to sing along with the parrots. Become as one with the birds. Let the music convey your feelings.
Happy Woofio Okay! Now you try, woof!
You spend time with Woofio and various animals.
Everyday Woofio Hmm... You lost focus toward the end, but not a bad effort for a first-timer. You have potential.
Happy Woofio You might even have the most potential of all the humans I've worked with!
Everyday Woofio All right, now we're going to start doing the training needed to get a temporary animal trainer license.
Everyday Woofio Oh, don't worry. It's not too ruff.
Everyday Woofio Now, next, we're going to assume the form of the shellfish.
Everyday Woofio Let me show you how it's done. See, you pose just like so...
Everyday Woofio And then you just sink down into the ocean.
Everyday Woofio If you can't do this properly, you'll never be able to become a proper animal trainer.
Everyday Woofio Don't worry. I'm sure you can do it! You're a farmer after all. You have plenty of experience with animals.
Everyday Woofio Now come on, <Player>! Unleash your potential and dive into the ocean!
Everyday Woofio What's wrong, <Player>? Your face is very pale.
Concerned Woofio Oh yeah... It totally slipped my mind.
Concerned Woofio Just because I can do it, doesn't automatically mean you can.
Concerned Woofio A normal human can't survive deep in the ocean. I didn't mean to ask the impossible of you.
Blushing Woofio I guess for all my ability with animals, it looks like what I need to practice is communicating with other people.
Everyday Woofio Sorry for putting you through all that, <Player>.
Everyday Woofio That said, I did have fun today. I hope we can train together again soon.

(Light Blue) Love Event: Woofio Led Astray

  • New Neighbors DLC is needed
  • Woofio's Friend Event has been completed
  • Woofio's FP: 20000+ (2 Hearts+/Light Blue Flower)
  • Weather: Sunny (Your Farm, Crossroads, and South Lulukoko)
  • Any Weekday (No other events must trigger that day, No festivals)
  • Time: 10:00 - 17:00
  • How to trigger: Walk from the Crossroads to South Lulukoko
  • About: You walk into Lulukoko's southern district only to come across a frantic Schalk and Alma who have discovered a cat which has strayed too far from home. The cat doesn't seem to be very responsive to their efforts to help the small creature. The two children turn to you for help in searching for the cat's home and family. After a fruitless effort, Woofio stops by for a hello, but notices that something isn't quite right. Rest assured! Animal Trainer Woofio is now on the case! Woofio gives the cat a few sniffs with his nose and deduces that the cat is not a stray, but rather someone's family pet. You all set off to reunite the cat with a young boy from Tsuyukusa. Thank goodness it's safe! It's incredible to everyone how Woofio was able to figure all of that out from the cat's scent. It's all in a day's work for an Animal Trainer. Woofio sends the children home before it gets too late, and spends a little time to chat with you. He ends up admitting that he knows what it feels like not being able to return home. When you show your concern, Woofio gets flustered and shares a little more information about himself with you. Woofio doesn't want you worrying, though! All animals are his friends and family now. He thanks you for being kind to him and takes his leave. A little later, he reflects on your kindness and quickly stomps out any ideas that you could be anything other than a normal person. He reassures himself that keeping his distance is the way to go, going forward.

Angry Schalk Alma, were they over there?
Sad Alma It doesn't look like it...
Everyday Schalk Ah, <Player>!
Sad Alma You've gotta help us, <Player>!
Everyday Schalk We found this little cat in that field over there!
Sad Schalk It must've gotten separated from its family...
Sad Alma We tried to give it some food, but it won't eat. It's just been shivering the whole time...
Sad Alma We felt bad for it so we decided to look for its family, but we can't find them.
Everyday Alma Can you help us, <Player>?
The three of you search and search for the cat's family...
Sad Schalk Hmmm... They're nowhere to be found.
Sad Alma Where could this little one's family be?
Everyday Woofio Oh, Rosa! What's up?
Everyday Woofio I see... They got sep-paw-rated from their family.
Everyday Woofio That's too bad. But everything's gonna be terrier-ific now that I'm here!
Happy Woofio I AM an animal trainer, after all!
Everyday Woofio *sniff* *sniff*
Everyday Woofio Ah-ha. I've got the scent.
Everyday Woofio This little one doesn't have a collar, but it's a pet from someone's house, woof.
Everyday Woofio It seems like its owner is looking for it. Follow me, pups!
Everyday Schalk Huh? He figured all that out just now?!
Happy Alma Wow, Woofio is amazing!
The four of you bring the cat to the Crossroads. The cat sees and is reunited with its owner...
??? (Tsuyukusa Boy) Jiro!
??? (Tsuyukusa Boy) Where were you? I was looking all over for you!
??? (Tsuyukusa Boy) I'm so glad you're okay...
Happy Schalk Jiro! So you were somebody's pet!
Happy Alma I thought you were a stray!
??? (Tsuyukusa Boy) Thanks for finding my cat!
Everyday Schalk But wow, that was amazing! Did you figure all that out just from sniffing him?!
Everyday Alma We had no idea anyone owned him!
Happy Alma That's why we were looking all over for cats that were the same type! You're awesome, Woofio!
Happy Woofio All in a day's work for the best-in-show animal trainer!
Everyday Woofio ...Looks like it's gotten late.
Everyday Woofio I'm sure the folks at home are starting to worry, so you both should head on back home.
Happy Alma Okaaay!
Everyday Schalk See you later, Woofio! Mahalo for helping us, Rosa!
Everyday Woofio Aw, shucks. I didn't do anything special. I just made sure he got back to where he belonged.
Everyday Woofio ...Not having a place where you belong is a sad fate, after all.
Everyday Woofio Ah... Forget I said anything.
Everyday Woofio Look at me, getting serious. That's not like me at all, woof.
Blushing Woofio Aww, don't give me those puppy dog eyes. I'll get embarrassed, woof!
Everyday Woofio Hmmm, you're not gonna let this dog off the hook, are you?
Everyday Woofio Well, I guess that's all right.
Everyday Woofio See, I'm kind of a wanderer. I don't have a home to go back to anymore.
Happy Woofio But it's fine!
Happy Woofio As far as I'm concerned, the animals of the world are my family and friends!
You step forward and tenderly pet Woofio on the head.
Everyday Woofio ...
Happy Woofio Thanks. You're awfully kind, you know that?
Everyday Woofio And I couldn't help but notice you don't treat me like a weirdo.
Everyday Woofio ...Though I suppose that goes for the whole town, for that matter.
Everyday Woofio Normal adults tend to...put some distance between me and them.
Everyday Woofio Ha ha, I'm just doggin' you!
Everyday Woofio And on that note, I'll be taking my leave. Catch you later!
Woofio leaves in a more than obvious attempt to deflect the conversation away from him any further. He stops to think to think to himself on the way back.
Everyday Woofio ...
Everyday Woofio ...When was the last time someone rubbed my head like that?
Everyday Woofio No...No no no. What am I thinking...?
Everyday Woofio They're just...normal.
Everyday Woofio I guess I should be careful not to get too invested going forward.
Everyday Woofio ...It'll be okay. I've been down this road before.

(Dark Blue) Love Event: A Suit-able Fellow

  • New Neighbors DLC is needed
  • Woofio's Light Blue Love Event has been completed
  • Woofio's FP: 30000+ (3 Hearts+/Dark Blue Flower)
  • You have met Witchie
  • Weather: Sunny (Everywhere)
  • Any Weekday (No other events must trigger that day, No festivals)
  • Time: 20:00 - 23:00
  • How to trigger: Walk from South Lulukoko into North Lulukoko
  • About: While paying a visit to Lulukoko's ruins, you notice Woofio trying to find a way inside from up high. Woofio miscalculates a step and tumbles to the ground, but somehow he's left unharmed! Clearly worried for your friend, you rush over to help him up. Uh oh, Woofio wasn't quite expecting to see you! You didn't see what happened, did you? He tries to play it cool, and suggests that you might have dreamed up what you saw. You won't be letting him brush you off this time, however, and he can tell that anything he might say to you now will be seen through completely. Very well, you two will have to go talk in private. The both of you make way to a secluded section of the village and sit down for what will be a lengthy and serious conversation. Woofio's not one for these kinds of talks, but begins by saying that everything you know of him up to now has been a lie that he's led you to believe for the sake of convenience. While he is an Animal Trainer, he came to the ruins to investigate the spirits of Lulukoko. He asks what you see when you look at him. At this time, Woofio shares his greatest secret with you. After revealing it to you, he mentions that you're the first he's ever told. As Woofio tries to leave, you feel like you might not see him again. You're compelled to chase after him. Woofio's feelings about you are so complex; in the end, he just wants you to be happy. He tries to warn you that nothing good comes from being close to him. People shun him, and they'll shun you as well. You really shouldn't feel anything for him at all. You're getting yourself into something far beyond your means... He tries and tries to push you away, and all the more it's clear how much this is painful for him. He has been "The Great Woofio" for so long, but now he feels like his persona is crumbling away. You give him a pained and concerned glance, and he asks you not to look at him that way. He won't leave without warning, since he still has to find out information on Lulukoko's spirits. The two of you part ways after this, and on your way home you're confronted by Witchie. She had eavesdropped on the whole conversation! It turns out that Woofio may be under a Witch's curse. Breaking the curse is no easy feat, and Witchie can't make any promises about reversing the process. Still, she tells you she will give it her best shot - with some time, of course.

Concerned Woofio Wh-Whoa... Slipped a little there. Whoopsy daisy.
Everyday Woofio ...<Player>!
Everyday Woofio Uh...Did you...?
Everyday Woofio No, no, I'm totally fine!
Happy Woofio I just stumbled a bit is all.
Everyday Woofio You think I fell from up high? Are you sure you didn't just dream that up, <Player>?
Everyday Woofio ......
Everyday Woofio ...Though I suppose I can't expect you of all people to believe that.
Everyday Woofio Geez, you're too insightful for your own good sometimes, you know that?
Everyday Woofio Woof. Fine, fine.
Everyday Woofio I can't put my finger on why, but... I don't want to lie to you.
Everyday Woofio ...But first, let's go somewhere else. I don't want anybody else to o-fur-hear this.
The two of you head to a secluded part of Lulukoko.
Everyday Woofio I don't think anyone will see us here.
Everyday Woofio Let's sit over there... This'll probably take a while to explain.
Everyday Woofio Well...where to begin?
Everyday Woofio Remember before when I told you I came here to hone my skills as an animal trainer?
Everyday Woofio ...That was a lie. Yup. Just a convenient fabrication.
Everyday Woofio The truth is, I came to this village to investigate it.
Everyday Woofio Or to put a finer point on it, to investigate the legend of this village's spirit.
Everyday Woofio Hey, <Player>?
Everyday Woofio What do I look like to you?
Everyday Woofio ...I'm betting I look like a person wearing a goofy dog costume, right?
Everyday Woofio I figured as much. That's how I've always seen myself, too.
Everyday Woofio But...that's not the case.
Everyday Woofio <Player>, this is probably going to sound crazy to you, but...
Everyday Woofio ...there's nobody inside this suit. The suit itself is my body.
Everyday Woofio Once, when I was really young, I met the great spirit in the forest.
Everyday Woofio The great spirit told me that it'd been a long time since they'd met a human who could see them, so they wanted to play.
Everyday Woofio I spent days playing with the great spirit.
Everyday Woofio Thinking back on it, it was probably much longer than just a few days.
Everyday Woofio I spent my time talking to the forest animals, eating snacks in a strange room...
Everyday Woofio And the great spirit would make me laugh and even surprise me with its wondrous magical powers.
Everyday Woofio But eventually, I realized I had to go home, and so I left the room where I'd been staying.
Everyday Woofio The great spirit tried to get me to stop, but I ignored it and just ran out of the forest as fast as my legs could carry me.
Everyday Woofio But just as I was about to reach home, I realized something wasn't right.
Everyday Woofio I'd been running for so long, but...I wasn't out of breath.
Everyday Woofio It was then that I saw my reflection in the water. I didn't recognize the dog face looking back at me.
Everyday Woofio It was then that I finally realized what had happened to me.
Everyday Woofio In a panic, I ran back into the forest looking for the mysterious room, but...it had completely vanished.
Everyday Woofio My body had been transformed into a dog costume, and I could still understand what all the animals were saying.
Everyday Woofio Ever since then, I haven't been able to go back home. I've lived deep in the forest with the animals.
Everyday Woofio ...
Everyday Woofio I never get hungry, either. I don't even feel pain.
Everyday Woofio That's why...even though I fell from so high up, I can just walk away without so much as a scratch.
Everyday Woofio I've kept it a secret from everyone that there's nothing inside of me.
Everyday Woofio ...This is the first time I've ever opened up to anyone.
Everyday Woofio ...
Everyday Woofio Well...guess I'll be going.
Everyday Woofio See you later, <Player>...Take care.
(I get the feeling I might never see Woofio ever again...)
You chase after Woofio.
Everyday Woofio <Player>...
Everyday Woofio ...What's wrong? You look frantic.
I won't tell a soul (+0 FP, No Penalty)
Everyday Woofio Ah hah hah... It's fine, really. I'm really not that worried.
Everyday Woofio I know you'd never tell anyone.
Everyday Woofio But if my secret were to ever get out, I know you'd probably try to protect me, right?
Everyday Woofio If it came down to that, I can just imagine how you'd be treated by others.
Everyday Woofio And I don't want to see that happen.
I'll always be by your side (+2000 FP)
Everyday Woofio Always by my side...?
Everyday Woofio ...Even if I can never return to normal?
Everyday Woofio ...No.
Everyday Woofio You can't be by my side. You shouldn't feel sympathy for me.
Everyday Woofio You'll just end up miserable, in the end.
Everyday Woofio I can get by being a lone weirdo who wears an animal costume all the time. I'm used to it.
Everyday Woofio But if you're with me, people will shun you as a weirdo like they do me.
Everyday Woofio The price you'd pay for making me happy is sacrificing your own happiness.
Everyday Woofio ...I couldn't handle that. It'd make me feel downright awful.
Everyday Woofio No, I'm right.
Everyday Woofio You're a good person. When I'm with you, I feel happier than I can put into words.
Everyday Woofio That's why I felt comfortable telling you my secret, something I thought I'd never tell anybody.
Everyday Woofio ...I'm sorry. I should never have told you.
Everyday Woofio You feel sympathy for me because you're a kind person. That's just who you are. It hurt you to find out I'm an outcast.
Everyday Woofio I'm glad you care, but...you have no idea what you're getting yourself into.
Everyday Woofio ...I guess. Look at me, trying to scold someone.
Concerned Woofio The more time I spend with you, the more I feel like I'm going to lose sight of who I'm trying to be. That's no good.
Everyday Woofio I, the great Woofio, am a friend to children everywhere... I have to be a fun, jovial character who makes dog jokes.
Everyday Woofio That's the path I've chosen to roll with the hand I've been dealt. That's who the great animal trainer Woofio is.
Everyday Woofio Please don't give me that look. I won't just up and vanish without any warning.
Everyday Woofio I still haven't figured out anything Lulukoko's spirit.
Everyday Woofio I'll be here until I find out what's going on with it.
Everyday Woofio Well, I'll be seein' you. You be careful on your way home, now.
The two of you part ways, and you head back to the Crossroads on the way to your farm.
?????? What a shocker...
Sad Witchie To think that dog costume used to be a normal ol' human...
Sad Witchie I figured maybe it was some kind of homunculus created by another witch or something.
Angry Witchie I-It's not like I was eavesdropping or anything.
Angry Witchie You two were being so loud right in front of my house that I originally came out to tell you to shut up.
Sad Witchie But yeah, that guy...
Sad Witchie I'm betting the spirit he was talking about is definitely a witch. ...Probably.
Everyday Witchie I can sense a witch's magic energy wafting off him, y'know.
Everyday Witchie That's why I originally thought he was some sort of magical creature.
Everyday Witchie If his condition was the result of some witch's magic, there might be a way to reverse the effects...
Sad Witchie D-Don't rush me.
Sad Witchie I'm just a witch in training. There's no guarantee that I'll be able to dispel a hex cast by another witch...
Sad Witchie Okay, okay! Don't look at me with those big, quivering eyes.
Everyday Witchie ...Just give me some time, okay? Genius doesn't happen all at once, except when it does.
