Description

Gray is a gruff young ranch hand from the faraway Flower Bud Village. He's amazing with horses, and came from Green Ranch to help Brownie Ranch train their own. Unfortunately, Gray came under a false premise that he would actually be able to ride the horses. This is later revealed to be a trick of his old man's making. Talking to Gray may not get you anywhere at first, but those who persevere will find he's not that cold at all. His thoughts seem to be elsewhere at times, thinking of home, thinking of the woman he plans to return to and marry.

Gray isn't particularly close to anyone other than the folks at Brownie Ranch, with whom he works with during his time on the island. His friendship with Renee can't be helped, due to her sunshine personality and passion for helping others. If anything happens with Renee, Gray has a comment about it.

Introduction

"A young man from Green Ranch in Flower Bud Village. Helps train horses at Brownie Ranch. Doesn't talk much, as he's a bit of a social recluse." - Gray's Town Hall Resident Card

The Player first meets Gray in year 2 or later, after the completion of Daren's rainbow. When visiting Brownie Ranch's farm, the Player will notice the new islander attending a foal. Gray greets the Player rather rudely, but the meeting is interrupted by Renee, who tells Gray there's something wrong with one of the horses. As Gray goes off to take care of things, Renee fills in the details. She's glad you got to meet him. (After all, Renee wants him to be able to make more friends!)

• Gray owns a horse called Gilbreth that he takes care of and enters into the Animal Contest while on the island.
• When Gray is on the island, he becomes the NPC who has the highest probability of winning the Animal Contest aside from the Player.
• Tree of Tranquility occurs at a time before Gray's riding accident that is mentioned in Harvest Moon 64. (Tree of Tranquility is the same universe as HM64.)
